Data on incidents in Afghanistan. The data are generated based on the Worldwide Incidents Tracking System (WITS) that is the U.S. Government's database on acts of terrorism, and contains details about incidents of violence against civilians and non-combatants (including military personnel and assets outside of war-like settings) from publicly available information. We geo-referenced each incident. The WITS data were accessed on Nov 5, 2010 from the WITS website (http://www.nctc.gov/site/other/wits.html). See Readme for further details and citation policy.
