Abstract:

The Gulf/2000 Project is housed at the School of International and Public Affairs of Columbia University. It provides a wealth of information including original maps on the eight countries of the Persian Gulf region: Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. In particular, the website contains original, high-resolution ethnic and language maps created by Dr. Michael Izady. These maps are extremely useful for classifying geographic units in terms of their ethnic composition, especially when combined with LandScan gridded population data. Visit the Gulf/2000 website for further details and its use and citation policy.
